Changes In Orexin A Serum Level, Insulin Resistance And Anthropometric Indices In Overweight Women After Six Weeks Aerobic Training

Authors

Abstract:

Background and Objective: Orexin is an orexigenic peptide and is present in the form of A and B in the blood. Orexin neurons respond to a number of metabolic signals that indicate the body's energy status. This study was carried out to evaluate the effect of six weeks of aerobic training on orexin level, insulin resistance and anthropometric indices in overweight women. Materials & Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, 24 inactive overweight women were non-randomly divided into interventional and control groups. The aerobic training included aerobic training (with intensity of 60-70% of maximum heart rate reserve). The training performed three times per week for six weeks. Results: The six weeks of aerobic training increased the orexin level and decreased insulin, glucose, insulin resistance index, weight, BMI, WHR and fat percentage in interventional group compared to the controls (P<0.05). Conclusion: The six weeks of aerobic training increased the orexin level, decreased insulin resistance and improves anthropometric indices in overweight women.

The Effects of a High-Intensity Interval Training on Plasma Levels of Orexin-A and Insulin Resistance in Overweight Women

Background and Aim: Orexin is a hormone involved inoverweight and obesity and a regulator of glucose metabolism. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of a high-intensity interval training (HIIT) on plasma levels of orexin-A (OXA) and insulin resistance in overweight women. Materials and Methods: In a semi-experimental study, 24 overweight women (aged 20-25 years; body mass in...

Effect of Six Weeks of Aerobic / Resistance Training with Supplementation of Cinnamon on Glucose, Insulin and Fat Mass in Overweight Women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Aims: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of six weeks of combined exercises with supplementation of cinnamon on glucose, insulin and fat mass in women with PCOS. Materials and Methods: 40 women with mean age of 24.15 ± 2.64 and BMI of 27.95 ± 1.28 were randomly assigned into 4 groups (exercise, exercise-supplement, supplement, control). Exercise-supplementation and exercise group...

the effect of resistance training on serum myostatin level and insulin resistance in obese-overweight men

the aim of this study was to determine the effect of resistance training for 10 weeks on muscle strength, lean body mass, serum myostatin, and insulin resistance in obese-overweight men. seventeen obsess-overweight men(age:=43.1±4.7 yr, body mass index = 29.1±2.17 kg/m2) participated in the study the subjects were randomly assigned to resistance training (n=9) and control (n=8) groups. resistan...

Effect of 8 weeks of circuit training on serum Irisin levels and Insulin Resistance Index in overweight girls

The purpose of this study was the effect of eight weeks of circuit training on the Irisin levels and the Insulin Resistance Index (HOMA-IR) in overweight women. Materials and Methods: In this study 22 overweight women voluntarily were chosen (Age 26.04±4.43 yrs, BMI 29.35±2.53 kg/m2) and were divided to two groups of control (n=11) and experimental (n=11). In the experimental group, subjects...

Effect of Eight Weeks of Aerobic Aquatic and Land Exercise Training on Leptin, Resistin, and Insulin Resistance in Obese Women

Background: Regular exercise has been shown to improve diabetes-related biological markers. However, for some groups, exercises that require weight bearing are difficult. Therefore, the purpose of the present study was to compare the effect of eight weeks of aerobic aquatic and land exercise training on leptin, resistin, and insulin resistance in obese women. Materials and Methods: In the p...

Changes in fibrinogen levels, plasma viscosity and insulin resistance after 4 weeks of combined sit-up and walking training

Introduction: Reports concerning the association of physical activity with markers of inflammation, coagulation, and fibrinolysis are ambiguous. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of 4 weeks of combined decomposedsit-up and walking training with two different volumes onfibrinogen, plasma viscosity and insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR) in college, young men. Methods: In this semi...
